A quick guide on how to select the right LED sign
Outdoor digital signage can make a significant improvement in a company’s marketing strategy.
However, to get the most out of this investment, you must know which types of displays are right for you. Thus, here’s a quick guide on how to select the right LED sign to help steer you in the right direction.
Determine what sign content you plan on displaying
What content you plan on displaying via signage will ultimately help you decide what’s best for you. The resolution of the display, the screen size, video capability, and budget should help elevate your specific company’s visual marketing.
Consider the resolution and viewing distance
High-resolution LED displays will provide clear and crisp images and text at an even close range. In signage, the resolution is measured in pitch, in which a tighter pitch results in higher resolution. Thus, we have three tight-pitch, ultra-high-resolution variants of LED displays of 9 mm, 6 mm, 4 mm.
A simple way to determine optimal viewing distance from a display’s pitch is to convert the unit millimeters to meters. Thus, 9 mm, 6 mm, and 4mm displays are best viewed at 9 m, 6 m, and 4 m, respectively. That said, with ultra-high-resolution displays, you can see the clarity of the text and image at close and far distances.
Pick a screen size that fits the location
When picking your LED signs screen size, you must take the location into account. That is to say that if the location is a marketplace with a lot of pedestrians walking about, you won’t need to invest a large screen size to get their attention. However, signage near roads with fast-moving traffic will need to be large enough to grab their attention from a distance. In that case, keep the speed of the traffic and the distance from the road in mind when picking optimal screen size. You must also make sure to secure a screen size that can fit nicely into whatever space you have available.
Select outdoor digital signage with video content capability
If you plan on incorporating moving images in your company’s visual marketing campaign, your LED signs should have appropriate video capability. A screen with a 60 Hz panel will display video content in a maximum of 60 frames per second (FPS), allowing for smooth and seamless motion.
Pick displays that can withstand harsh weather
Your signage should have an IP 67 rating, so it can stay dustproof and waterproof. Moreover, your display should operate at its best regardless of what the temperature is outside. Our displays can operate between -40° and 158° Fahrenheit. Thus, you’ll have peace of mind knowing that your display won’t sustain damage even during the toughest climates.
Consider a display with cell service or Wi-Fi connection
As a leading LED signage company, we highly recommend Cell Service that prevents the “line of sight” and “firewall” issues from the Wi-Fi connection and makes sure the digital sign works all the time.
The only way to make your outdoor digital signage a valuable investment is to pick displays that are best-suited to your company’s needs while staying well within your budget.
